Turkish and Afghan Red Crescent society, directors hold joint meeting!

Today, on Saturday, 5th of February 2022 Mawlawi Matiul Haq Khalis, Acting Director General of the Afghan Red Crescent Society and Dr. Karim Kenik, Director of the Turkish Red Crescent Society and Vice President of the International Federation met at the Afghan Red Crescent Society HQ office.

During the meeting, the acting director general of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis, said that Turkey and Afghanistan have historical ties and many commonalities and they are happy to work together with the Turkish Red Crescent Society in Afghanistan. He said the Afghan Red Crescent was the only way for the world to reach out to those in need. He said the Afghan Red Crescent was trying to expand its operations.

The President of the Turkish Red Crescent Society and Vice President of the International Federation, Karim Knik, said at the meeting that Afghans are in greater need of humanitarian assistance after on August 5 last year. The Turkish people feel the pain of the Afghan people and work hard to help them. "Afghanistan is in dire need of food aid, child and mother health, clean water and education," he said. For that reason, we want to increase the resources of the International Federation to provide the necessary assistance to Afghans.

He said that over the past 20 years, Turkey has provided food and non-food items to 2.1 million people and would accelerate this process. To this end, the Turkish Red Crescent, along with several other charities across Turkey, has launched a fundraising campaign for Afghanistan, during which a large number of donations have been raised, part of which will be delivered by train to Herat this week. Arrive by car and the rest will arrive within a month. According to Mr. Kinik, the Turkish Red Crescent's aid to Afghanistan is more than 700 tons. He said Afghanistan was in dire need of 2 billion to help Afghans to return normal Condition.
