Balkh: Distribution of Nearly AFN 8 Million in Wages Begins for 1,530 Laborers

The ARCS has begun distributing AFN 7,750,250 in wages to 1,530 skilled and unskilled laborers under the Cash-for-Work Program in Kishindih, Sholgara, Alburz, and Marmal districts of Balkh Province.

In the first phase of the program, AFN 2,505,600 was distributed to 486 laborers in Kishindih District. Laborers in Sholgara, Alburz, and Marmal districts are scheduled to receive their wages in the coming days.

Over the past month, the laborers completed the rehabilitation of 510 safe drinking water ponds (Kandas) across the four districts. The project is expected to significantly improve access to safe drinking water for local communities.

The project was implemented with the financial support of the Danish Red Cross to support the livelihoods of vulnerable families through cash-for-work while rehabilitating essential community infrastructure.

The ARCS continues its efforts to strengthen the livelihoods of vulnerable families through such programs, while promoting self-reliance and improving the living conditions of people across the country.
