The head of the Turkish Red Crescent Society and vice president of the International Federation, Karim Kanik, has arrived in Afghanistan on a three-day visit!
The President of the Turkish Red Crescent Society and Vice President of the International Federation Karim Kanik, arrived in Afghanistan on Friday for a three-day visit.
He was welcomed by the acting general director of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis, the Turkish ambassador to Kabul and a number of other senior officials.Mr Kanik told reporters at Kabul airport that "We stand by the Afghan people & Afghans are proud people and will soon get out of the current predicament. He said he had come to Afghanistan at the invitation of the Afghan Red Crescent. To take a closer look at the current humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and work to increase humanitarian assistance.
Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis, acting director of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, told reporters at Kabul International Airport that "we urge Turkey to stand by the Afghan people and extend a helping hand & we will work with the Turkish Red Crescent and the International Federation on how to bring a better day to Afghans together," he further added.
"We are working with the international community to keep the door open for aid to Afghanistan and to open more doors,"
It has been decided that the President of the Turkish Red Crescent Society and Vice President of the International Federation of Red Crescent Societies Karim Kanik is scheduled to have a one and a half hour meeting with the acting director of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis tomorrow on Saturday.
