Badghis: AFN 3.2 Million Canal Construction Project Begins

The ARCS started construction of a water canal worth AFN 3.2 million in Bagak village, in the vicinity of the center of Badghis Province, to prevent damage caused by floods.

According to the project, a 150-meter-long and 1.9-meter-high water canal will be constructed. The work is expected to be completed and the canal handed over for use within 20 working days.

During the implementation of the project, 120 skilled and unskilled local workers will be employed, providing temporary employment opportunities for a number of people in the area.

The project is being implemented with financial support from the ICRC. Its purpose is to protect the agricultural lands of local communities from flood damage and support the livelihoods of people in the area.

In addition to reducing the risks posed by natural disasters, the ARCS continues its efforts to strengthen the resilience of communities.
