The ARCS distributed equipment for small businesses worth AFN 2.8 million to 89 returnee women from various districts of Herat city and the districts of Injil and Guzara in Herat Province to help them become self-reliant

The equipment was provided with support from the Austrian Red Cross and the Danish Red Cross. It included supplies for tailoring, wool and carpet weaving, confectionery making, beadwork, embroidery, traditional Khamak embroidery, dairy processing, and several other trades.

Under this program, equipment and supplies worth AFN 32,000 were purchased for each woman.

The assistance is expected to help these women establish sustainable sources of income and strengthen their families’ economic self-reliance.

The ARCS continues to support small-business initiatives to strengthen the economic capacity of returnee families and women in need and help them establish sustainable sources of income.
