A three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop has begun for a number of staff members from the central headquarters of the ARCS and communications officer from its seven regional offices. The workshop aims to enhance staff members’ professional competencies and strengthen their knowledge of the Society’s humanitarian activities.

The workshop was organized by the Capacity Building Unit of the Staff Affairs Department of the ARCS, with financial support from the ICRC in Afghanistan.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mawlawi Rohullah Abdul Salam, Under-Secretary General for Operational Affairs of the ARCS; Mawlawi Shafiqullah Amini, Director of Staff Affairs; and representatives of the ICRC.

At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Abdul Aleem Ahmadzai, Head of Capacity Building, emphasized that enhancing staff members’ professional competencies is essential for institutional development. He also expressed his appreciation to the ICRC for its cooperation in implementing training programs. He noted that, with the ICRC’s support, numerous training programs had been provided to staff members of regional offices and provincial branches during the current year.

He urged participants to apply the knowledge and experience gained during the workshop in their respective roles, share what they learn with other staff members, and strive to represent the ARCS professionally.

Mawlawi Rohullah Abdul Salam also emphasized the importance of such training programs, stating that every employee should have a thorough understanding of their organization’s objectives, responsibilities and activities.

He added that all ARCS employees should have the necessary knowledge of the Society and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to perform their duties effectively and professionally.

During the three-day workshop, participants will learn about the history of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, its seven Fundamental Principles and emblems, the ARCS’s healthcare and humanitarian services, disaster preparedness and response, legal affairs, youth and volunteer activities, and the operations of the Society’s Marastoons. Participants will also receive training on Safer Access, administrative correspondence and the Code of Conduct for staff.

Through its training programs, the ARCS strives to strengthen its employees’ knowledge and skills, enhance their professional competencies and improve the quality and effectiveness of its humanitarian services.
