Japan Hands Over Emergency Humanitarian Aid for Kunar Earthquake Victims to ARCS

After receiving Japan’s humanitarian assistance at Kabul International Airport for the families affected by the Kunar earthquake, Sheikh Ul Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, President of the ARCS, along with Mr. Takayoshi Kuromiya, Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan, and Joy Singhal, Acting Head of the IFRC Delegation in Afghanistan, attended a press briefing.
In his remarks, ARCS President Delawar expressed profound appreciation for the non-food assistance provided through the financial support of the Government of Japan and the technical assistance of the IFRC. He described the emergency aid as impactful and vital, assuring that it would be distributed with full transparency to the earthquake-affected families.
Ambassador Kuromiya conveyed heartfelt condolences over the tragedy, recalling Japan’s own experiences with devastating earthquakes, which allow them to better understand the plight of the Afghan people. He stated, “We commend the efforts of the ARCS and hope for even better services. We pledge that Japan will always sustain its collaboration with the Afghan people.“
Singhal praised the strong coordination between the parties and called for the continuation and expansion of such humanitarian support from Japan in the future
The emergency relief pakage includes 250 tents, 1620 blankets, 1620 sleeping pads, and 250 water storage jerrycans, which will soon be distributed to earthquake-affected families in Kunar.
