Five-Day Free Cataract Surgery Program Launches in Nangarhar

Al-Basar International Foundation, in collaboration with the ARCS, and financially supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, has launched a five-day program in Nangarhar to provide treatment and cataract surgeries for patients with eye disorders. The opening ceremony was attended by Mawlawi Qamar Gul Nasrat, ARCS Regional Director for the Eastern Zone; Mawlawi Fazal-ur-Rahman Fayaz, Head of the ARCS Nangarhar branch; Mawlawi Azizullah Mustafa, Deputy Governor of Nangarhar; and Mawlawi Aminullah Sharif, Provincial Director of Public Health.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mawlawi Qamar Gul Nasrat outlined the scope and significance of the program. Deputy Governor Mawlawi Azizullah Mustafa commended ARCS for its humanitarian services, describing the eye surgery initiative, together with its broader activities, as both impactful and vital for the Afghan people.
Over the course of the program, 400 patients will undergo cataract surgery and treatment, around 5,000 individuals will receive professional eye examinations, and 1,000 will be provided with corrective eyeglasses.
