Balkh: AFN 8.2 Million Project Launched to Provide Employment for 224 Workers

The ARCS launched an AFN 8.2 million cash-for-work project in Khair Abad Village of Dawlat Abad District, Balkh Province.
Under the project, 224 vulnerable people will be provided with employment for one month, and each skilled worker will receive AFN 1,000 per day, while unskilled workers will be paid AFN 500 per day.
The project includes concreting canal beds, cleaning irrigation canals, and constructing protective walls to prevent water loss.
Once completed, the project is expected to improve water access for approximately 16,000 jeribs of agricultural land in the area and reduce water wastage.
The project is implemented with financial support from the ICRC and aims to support vulnerable families economically through employment opportunities and improve local livelihoods through better water management.
