€ 1.7 Million Aid Pledged to ARCS for Health Services and Returnees

Kabul, Thursday, June 19, 2025

The leadership of ARCS, led by Acting General President Sheikh Ul Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar and Vice President Hafiz Azizur Rahman, met with Mr. Samae Al-Fakhouri, Head of IFRC in Afghanistan, to deliberate on supporting returning refugees and expanding healthcare cooperation.

During the meeting, Mr. Delawar thanked the IFRC for its continued humanitarian and financial commitments and appealed for the provision of urgent and additional assistance to address the growing needs of vulnerable patients and returnees.

In response, Mr. Al-Fakhouri announced that Ireland will contribute €1.2 million toward expanding ARCS health services, while New Zealand and the Netherlands will jointly provide €500,000 to support returnees.

He further pledged to facilitate ARCS’s participation in the upcoming mission to Geneva, where ARCS leaders will engage with European Red Cross partners to discuss support for vulnerable individuals.
