Job Description:
Provide fast, skilled emergency nursing care and triage for incoming patients (primarily pediatric cardiac referrals and acute medical/surgical presentations), stabilize and prepare patients for surgery/ICU transfer, support emergency procedures, and ensure safe, timely escalation to clinicians.
Key responsibilities:
1.    Triage and initial assessment: perform rapid triage using the hospital triage tool, prioritise patients and initiate appropriate emergency pathways.
2.    Immediate resuscitation and stabilization: deliver airway, breathing and circulation support for neonates, infants, children and adults until senior clinicians assume care.
3.    Emergency medications and infusions: prepare, check and administer weight-based emergency drugs, IV fluids, blood products and titratable infusions; ensure correct drug checks and documentation.
4.    Emergency procedures support: assist with and perform procedures within scope (airway support, ECG monitoring, defibrillation/AED, external pacing, basic ventilator support) and provide equipment readiness.
5.    Transfer and handover coordination: prepare and package patients for urgent transfer to OT, Cath Lab or ICU, secure lines/tubes and deliver structured verbal/written handover to receiving teams.
6.    Resuscitation equipment and stock readiness: maintain and log emergency trolley/resuscitation bay checks (defibrillator, suction, oxygen, airway kits); report equipment faults and coordinate rapid repair.
7.    Point-of-care testing and documentation: support POC testing (ABG, glucose, bedside Hb), record and relay results promptly and maintain accurate triage, drug and fluid charts in HMIS/patient records.
8.    Infection control and safety: follow IPC, PPE, sharps and blood-product handling protocols; ensure safe segregation and disposal of clinical waste.
9.    Debriefing, quality and training: participate in post-event debriefs, incident reporting, M&M reviews and simulation drills; mentor junior staff and maintain competency records.
10.   Shift work and communication: work rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, public holidays), participate in on-call/standby rosters and provide clear bedside/family communication in local languages while maintaining English clinical records for HMIS/audit.
Job Requirements:
•    Bachelor degree in Nursing (recognized).
•    Current nursing licence/registration with MoPH.
•    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred:
•    Post-basic training in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care or Pediatric Nursing.
•    PALS/APLS / Advanced Life Support certification.
•    Prior ED, trauma, or pediatric ICU experience.
Minimum experience
•    Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience; at least 18-24 months in emergency, acute care, ICU or pediatric wards preferred.
