Supervises: Cath-lab technologists, radiology assistants and junior technicians (as assigned)
Primary purpose:
Provide specialized technical support for diagnostic and interventional pediatric and adult cardiac catheterization procedures: operate and maintain Cath-lab imaging equipment, prepare and manage procedural consumables and devices, ensure radiation safety and sterile technique, and support the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, timely and high-quality cath-lab services.

Key responsibilities
1.    Prepare the lab for procedures: room setup, sterile field, instrument/device kits, contrast and disposables; complete pre-procedure/start-up checklists.
2.    Operate and optimise fluoroscopic/angiography imaging (including DSA), perform image acquisition and ensure correct digital storage and archiving.
3.    Assist operators during procedures: prepare and hand devices (wires, catheters, balloons, sheaths, occluders), manage instrument exchange and maintain sterile technique.
4.    Support vascular access and haemodynamic monitoring: prepare access trays, assist with temporary pacing/external defibrillation and manage haemostasis devices as required.
5.    Maintain device and consumable control: log device serial/batch numbers, monitor expiries, reconcile inventory and ensure patient-specific traceability.
6.    Enforce radiation safety/ALARA: apply shielding/collimation, monitor dose rates, manage personal dosimeters and report badge readings to Radiation Safety Officer.
7.    Coordinate turnover, reprocessing and basic troubleshooting: ensure room decontamination, liaise with CSSD and Biomedical Engineering for repairs and preventive maintenance.
8.    Participate in cath-lab emergency responses (device embolisation, tamponade, resuscitation): prepare devices rapidly, coordinate with ICU/OR and support urgent interventions.
9.    Contribute to quality and training: maintain procedure logs, participate in audits/M&M, support staff training on workflows, device handling and safety.
10.    Maintain clear English procedure documentation for HMIS/audit and communicate effectively in local languages with the clinical team.

Required Qualifications:
Mandatory:
•    Diploma or degree in Cardiac Technology, Radiography, Cardiovascular Technology, Clinical Engineering or equivalent allied-health qualification.
•    Demonstrable hands-on experience in interventional imaging or cath-lab technical roles.
Preferred:
•    Formal certification or training in Cardiac Catheterisation Technology, Radiologic Technology or Cath-Lab operations.
•    ACLS and/or PALS certification and prior paediatric cath-lab experience.

Minimum experience
•    Minimum 3–4 years’ experience working in a cardiac catheterization laboratory or interventional imaging environment; documented experience with pediatric cases preferred.
•    Demonstrated hands-on experience with angiography systems, vascular monitoring equipment and interventional consumables/devices.
