‎#ARCS President Meets UN-SRSG and Head Of ‎#UNAMA to Strengthen Humanitarian Assistance

Sunday, August 31, 2025

Sheikh Ul Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, President of the ARCS, held a high-level meeting with Ms. Roza Otunbayeva, Special Representative of the ‎#UN Secretary-General for ‎#Afghanistan and Head of UNAMA, alongside her deputy, Ms. Georgette Gagnon, to discuss the expansion, coordination, and strengthening of ‎#humanitarian assistance.
During the meeting, Mr. Delawar provided a detailed briefing on ARCS’s nationwide services through fixed health clinics, mobile health teams, mental health facilities, and Marastoons to vulnerable people, including mental health patients, returning refugees, children with congenital heart defects, families without guardians, as well as its emergency response efforts during natural and man-made disasters.
He further noted that along with health services, ARCS has daily distributed hot meals and clean drinking water to 10,000 returnees at four major refugees camps (‎#Pul_e_Abrishm, ‎#Islam_Qala, ‎#Spin_Boldak, and ‎#Torkham) and that has recently doubled to 20,000 meals per day due to a surge in returning refugees.
Mr. Delawar urged UNAMA to expand its support for ARCS in order to strengthen these efforts.
Ms. Otunbayeva, for her part, praised the ARCS’s humanitarian services as both impactful and fully aligned with the seven fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and pledged continued support to ARCS.
