The ARCS has launched a three-day training workshop aimed at further strengthening financial management, accountability, and the financial system.

The workshop has been organized by the Finance Department of the ARCS, with financial support from the IFRC. It is being attended by staff from several departments of the central headquarters, as well as finance officers from the Kandahar, Herat, and Nangarhar zones and their respective branches.

At the opening ceremony, Mawlawi Rohullah Abdul Salam, Under-Secretary General of Operational Affairs of the ARCS, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of proper financial management and observing moderation in expenditures in accordance with Islamic principles.

He called on participants to make effective use of the workshop’s topics, carefully learn the relevant materials, and share the knowledge and experience they gain with their colleagues, so that these lessons can have a practical impact on the management of financial affairs and the improvement of the organization’s services.

Hafiz Shabir Ahmad Osmani, Director of Finance, then highlighted the importance of professional training and capacity building for financial staff. He said that strengthening employees’ professional skills is essential for better management and organization of financial affairs.

He added that through this training program, staff working in the zones, branches, and other financial sections will be able to manage their financial affairs in a more organized, accurate, and standardized manner.

Mr. Osmani described financial affairs as one of the important areas of the organization and noted that negligence and delays in financial processes could affect the organization’s activities and the services it provides to the people.

He emphasized that effective financial management is based on complete documentation, accurate recording of information, regular review, transparency, and accountability. He urged financial staff to observe the established principles and procedures in carrying out their daily responsibilities.

During the three-day workshop, participants will receive practical and professional information on reviewing expenditure journals, assessing checklists, recording information in the financial system, managing expenditures, financial management, accountability, and other relevant financial topics.
