A high-ranking delegation led by Mr. Mati-Ul-Haq Khalis, President of ARCS met Nasira Ashraf, head of UK Embassy for Afghanistan & Johntan Tham, in-charge of developmental & Political affairs, regarding humanitarian aid to Afghanistan & helping vulnerable Afghans, in Doha. In meeting, Mr. Khalis expressed his gratitude for UK previous humanitarian aid & stated "The past 40 years of crisis have severely affected Afghan people physically, mentally & economically, thus we shouldn't be content to it, they shall be provided with further aid". He told, "Afghan people are in a hard-nosed situation and the last 40 years of crisis have severely affected them, most of whom are women and children, who are infected by psychological illnesses, along with other severe diseases, who need to be fully helped and treated." ARCS has provided help to psychological patients, children suffering from cardiovascular septal defect & poverty-stricken beggars to some extent by its own expense, but because their number is increasing day by day, thus ARCS can't bear the cost of their treatment & care. He said, "Care & protection centers for psychological patients of ARCS are established in 4 provinces of the country & we strive to extend this program to other zones". He told, "The program of registration & treatment of children suffering from cardiovascular septal defect is going fast, where ARCS has registered 24743 children, half of them have been treated, but this program need much cost, which is beyond the capacity of ARCS." We hope that the international community, including U K, will help & cooperate ARCS in this regard. "It is necessary that UK should help ARCS, providing work and vocational education to our countrymen, which will enable them to be self-sufficient and shall not be dependent on others." Ms. Nasira Ashraf praised the services of ARCS as a trusted organization in providing aid to the vulnerable people and promised that they will be helpmate of ARCS, continue their support and will provide necessary cooperation in the projects initiated by ARCS. Ms. Nasira siad, "In past years, we have helped the vulnerable people of Afghanistan with 300 million USD through UN and 6 million USD through IFRC & we want to keep this program continued." She told "We are interested to cooperate & coordinate ARCS in humanitarian aid".
