Kabul: Training Workshop Begins on Basic Healthcare Support for Patients’ Lives

A five-day training workshop titled “Basic Healthcare Support for Patients’ Lives” has begun at the central headquarters of the ARCS.

The workshop is being conducted with financial support from the IFRC and is attended by 10 health staff from the mobile health teams of Nangarhar, Kunar, Nuristan, Paktia and Paktika provinces.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mawlawi Rohullah Abdul Salam, Under-Secretary General of Operational Affairs of the ARCS, said that human life is more valuable than anything else, and saving the lives of patients and injured people is among the important responsibilities of health workers.

He called on the participants to make practical use of what they learn during the workshop and to provide timely services to patients and injured people in emergency situations in accordance with healthcare principles.

He added that providing first aid promptly plays an important role in saving patients’ lives and improving their condition.

During the five-day workshop, participants will receive theoretical and practical training on saving patients’ lives during emergencies, cardiopulmonary resuscitation in cases of cardiac arrest, chest compressions, artificial respiration, maintaining an open airway, and other essential first-aid measures.

Participants will also be taught different resuscitation techniques for cases of cardiac arrest, how to provide assistance in cases of airway obstruction and choking, as well as practical skills for conducting an initial assessment of a patient’s condition during emergencies.

The purpose of the training workshop is to enhance the professional knowledge and practical capabilities of health workers in saving patients’ lives during emergency situations.

The ARCS strives to further strengthen its capacity to provide timely and effective healthcare services to people in need during emergencies by enhancing the professional capacities of health workers.
