Herat: Turkish Red Crescent Hands Over 922 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to ARCS for Kunar Earthquake Victims

A shipment of 922 metric tons of humanitarian aid, consisting of food and non-food items from the Turkish Red Crescent for families affected by the recent earthquake in Kunar province, arrived in Herat by train.
A formal handover ceremony was held at Rozanak railway station in Herat, where Türkiye’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Cenk Ünal, officially presented the aid to ARCS Vice President Hafiz Azizur Rahman. The event was also attended by Ahmad Suleiman, Program Manager of the IFRC in Afghanistan, Naeemullah Karimi, Head of the Turkish Red Crescent in Afghanistan, ARCS heads from central and regional offices, and several government officials.
Speaking at the ceremony, ARCS Vice President thanked Türkiye for its continued support, saying, “The aid is a clear demonstration of humanitarian solidarity with earthquake-affected communities and the ARCS is committed to delivering the assistance transparently to families in need.”
In his remarks, Ambassador Ünal stated, “This 922 tons of aid, which includes food and non-food items, has been sent to Afghanistan to support those affected by natural disasters, especially the families hit by the recent earthquake in Kunar. It is intended to help meet their urgent needs during this emergency.”
He emphasized that Türkiye will always stand by the Afghan people in times of hardship.
