Kabul – Sunday, July 6, 2025

The Acting President of ARCS, Sheikh Ul Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, convened a high-level meeting today in his office with Mr. Sami Fakhouri, Head of IFRC in Afghanistan, and Mr. Ahmad Suleiman, Deputy Head of IFRC, to discuss improving conditions of returning refugees, addressing their urgent needs, and expanding humanitarian efforts.

During the meeting, Mr. Delawar highlighted the humanitarian operations currently undertaken by ARCS in support of returnees and emphasized that the scale of needs among repatriated households remains extremely high. He underscored the necessity for increased support from international humanitarian organizations.

In addition to concerns regarding refugees, Mr. Delawar also gave an update on recent floods that have struck several provinces, detailing the extensive damage and urgent requirements of the affected people. He appealed for an increase in aid and assured the delegation that ARCS is committed to delivering international assistance with utmost transparency to the most vulnerable, disaster-affected, and headless families.

In response, Mr. Fakhouri commended ARCS for its impartial and impactful efforts and pledged that IFRC would sustain its collaboration with ARCS by facilitating immediate relief, including hot meals, clean drinking water and long-term initiatives aimed at stabilizing the lives of returning refugees.
