EU Humanitarian Aid Pledges Support for Returning Refugees Through ARCS

Monday, September 1, 2025

Sheikh Ul Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, President of the ARCS, met yesterday evening at his office with Mr. François Goemans, Head of EU Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) in Afghanistan, Mr. Joy Singhal, Acting Head of the IFRC Delegation in Afghanistan, and New Deputy Ms. Huma Nader, to deliberate on measures to address the challenges facing returnees and alleviate their humanitarian suffering.
During the discussions, Mr. Delawar outlined ARCS’s humanitarian programs, service delivery, and the critical role of volunteers. He highlighted that returning refugees face severe humanitarian challenges and that many remain deprived of basic needs. He urged partners, international humanitarian organizations, and particularly the ECHO, to sustain collaborative efforts with the ARCS to support Afghans and take concrete measures to reduce human suffering.
The Head of EU Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) in Afghanistan commended the ARCS’s comprehensive services for vulnerable people, including returning refugees, disaster-affected communities, and women without guardians. He assured that, in close coordination with IFRC, vital humanitarian assistance and services would be provided to returning refugees via ARCS throughout the coming year.
He stated,” We are committed to intensifying our efforts to meet the needs of Afghan people. Humanitarian assistance remains our top priority, and we strive to provide effective and meaningful support to returning refugees based on their situation.”
