Badghis: Water Canal Project Worth Over AFN 3 Million Inaugurated

The ARCS has completed a water canal project worth more than AFN 3 million and officially handed it over for use in Baghak village, located in the center of Badghis province. The project aims to help prevent and reduce potential damage caused by seasonal floods.

The newly constructed canal is 155 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and 1.9 meters high. Construction was completed within 20 working days.

During the implementation of the project, 120 skilled and unskilled workers were employed and received daily wages for their work.

The project was financially supported by the ICRC and aims to protect the agricultural lands and residential areas of Baghak village from potential flood damage while helping safeguard the property and livelihoods of local residents.

Dr. Abdul Basir Rahmani, Head of the ARCS’s Western Zone, said at the inauguration ceremony that implementing public-benefit projects of this kind plays an important role in reducing losses caused by natural disasters and protecting people’s land and property.
