The ARCS, with support from the IFRC, distributed a total of 20 million Afghanis in cash assistance to 1,000 repatriated families from various districts of Kabul. The assistance was provided at the Central Marastoon to help families meet their basic needs, with each household receiving 20,000 Afghanis.
The distribution ceremony was attended by Sheikh-ul-Hadith Shahabuddin Delawar, General President of the ARCS; Vice President Hafiz Azizur Rahman; several directors of central departments; advisors; and Hosam Faysal, Head of the IFRC Delegation in Afghanistan.
During the event, Mr. Delawar expressed his satisfaction with the return of these families to their homeland. He assured that they would live in security and that their challenges would be addressed in a timely manner. He further emphasized that the ARCS remains committed to mobilizing additional humanitarian assistance to improve the living conditions of repatriated and vulnerable families and to ensuring the transparent distribution of aid.
In his remarks, Mr. Hosam Faysal reaffirmed continued support for repatriated refugees. He noted, “Despite the global decline in humanitarian assistance, we are making every effort to mobilize additional resources from various sources to support female-headed households, vulnerable families, and returning refugees, and to place this assistance at the disposal of the ARCS.”
It is worth noting that the ARCS has previously provided food items, non-food items, and cash assistance to repatriated refugees across several provinces of the country.
