Today, the 13th of January, 2022, the Acting Director of Afghan Red Crescent Society, Mawlawi Matiul Haq Khalis, held an online meeting with Dr. Karim Kinak, Director of Turkish Red Crescent Society.

In the meeting, Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis, the Acting Director of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, said “We hope that the government of Turkey always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Afghan Red Crescent Society and make our voice heard in international platforms every time. Afghanistan Red Crescent Society is a member of the International federation while the Turkey Red Crescent Society is the deputy of this Federation.

He added “Turkey and Afghanistan have a deep historical ties and Turkish people have a special place in the hearts of our Afghans.”

Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis thanked the Turkish Red Crescent Society and said that this society has always helped Afghans, and wished that this society expand its activities and services in Afghanistan since Afghans are faced many problems in this winter. "We understand that Turkey is interested in helping Afghans," said the Acting Director of this Society.

Mr. Khalis said that Turkey is a strong country and has influence over other countries, so Turkey's efforts will be very crucial for the Afghan Red Crescent Society.

Mawlawi Matiul Haq Khalis said, "We are committed to providing Turkish assistance to the needy families in a transparent manner and we are committed to moving forward in accordance with the principles of the Afghan Red Crescent Society."

He said that the leadership of the Islamic Emirate has assured them that they will be committed to the principles of the Afghan Red Crescent Society and the commitments made with the Federation. So far the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has not interfered in the affairs of the Afghan Red Crescent.

"We understand the plight of the Afghan people and will always stand by Afghanistan," said Dr. Karim Kanik, director of the Turkish Red Crescent Society. He further added "We can feel that Afghans are faced many socio-economic problems and we will share all these problems through international meetings to the world. Our Turkish Red Crescent office in Kabul will always work accordingly with the Afghan Red Crescent."

He said that before the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, the National Community Conference had pledged international assistance to Afghanistan. Because they are trying to deliver the promised aid to Afghanistan. He said he had discussed the matter with the international federation and that he believed the Afghan Red Crescent Society was capable of handing over this assistance.

The acting director of the Afghan Red Crescent said they welcomed the Turkish Red Crescent's nationwide campaign in Turkey to raise funds for Afghanistan. He said that if aid for Afghanistan was collected in Turkey, it would help more Afghans.

"We look forward to the world fulfilling its commitment to assist Afghanistan before the withdrawal of the United States," he said.
